The Feilding community is enjoying a modern new shopping experience with the recent opening of the new New World store. The new supermarket (Feilding's largest) provides a better customer experience with a broader grocery offer, wider aisles, plenty of natural light and ample car parking. Foodstuffs engaged Maycroft to build the new store, replacing an existing ageing supermarket.

We built the new 2900m2 supermarket on a greenfield site, along with a 7000m2 customer carpark and access roads. The new supermarket comprised a structural steel frame with precast wall panels and a CANZAC joint-free floor slab. Vigilant attention to detail was required to complete the slab, as it had to be poured in a single continuous pour, the concrete specification adhered to and the environmental conditions just right.

A demanding construction programme and restrictions around landscaping and drainage limits added further challenge. We delivered the project to a very tight programme to enable Foodstuffs to complete the fit-out of the new supermarket in advance of the scheduled opening date. A very high level of planning was required to achieve the programme. Extreme precision in set out was essential to comply with the landscaping and drainage limits.

Our recommendation for an alternative roofing system was valued by the Client. The RoofLogic system reduces risks of weather delay both during and post-construction, while improving the building’s efficiency and comfort levels. It also provides valuable future-proofing benefits, enabling Foodstuffs to re-roof the building without disruption to the retail space, as only the top layer of the two-skin system requires replacement.
