ST Brendan's School Refurbishment

The ST Brendan’s School Refurbishment project transformed key learning spaces at St Brendan’s School in Upper Hutt, creating a warm, dry, and modern environment for students and staff.

The primary focus was Block B, where we carried out a comprehensive upgrade. This included the safe removal of asbestos cladding and a full interior demolition, including existing walls and coverings. We then undertook a structural steel upgrade before completing a full interior fit-out featuring aluminium windows and doors, Floc and strand board wall linings, and new carpet and vinyl flooring.

We installed two kitchens, data upgrade, and installed new diaphragm ceiling fitted with Asona acoustic tiles. Lighting, fire, and security systems were upgraded, and the building’s exterior was reclad with an Easylap panel cavity system and timber feature boards. To improve accessibility, new ramps were added at key entry points.

In addition to Block B, we completed smaller upgrades across four other blocks to enhance the overall learning environment. These included lighting, fire, and security system upgrades, new acoustic ceiling tiles, Floc wall linings, and refreshed paintwork.

Much of the work was scheduled during school holidays to minimise disruption to teaching and learning. Where work continued during term time, strict safety measures were implemented to ensure the wellbeing of students, staff, and visitors. Clear site boundaries, secure fencing, and controlled access points were always maintained, with noisy or high-risk activities timed outside of school hours wherever possible. Our team worked closely with the school to coordinate construction around daily operations, prioritising safety and communication throughout the project.

This project provided St Brendan’s School with healthier, safer, and more functional spaces—supporting students and staff for years to come.
