Hospital Project completed

And that’s a wrap on the SPIRE (Surgical Procedural Interventional Recovery Expansion) project at Palmerston North Hospital.

This extensive and intricate project has significantly boosted the hospital's capacity for operations and procedures and brings long lasting healthcare benefits to the region.The project unfolded in two stages: Stage 1 was completed in early 2023 and saw the expansion of the Day of Surgery (DOSA) area and post-surgery recovery area as well as an increase of procedure rooms in the Gastroenterology Department from two to four. Stage 2 was completed last month and includes the addition of two theatres and a cardiac catheterisation lab added to the existing theatre suite. Additional plant was also installed on the roof top.
