High end construction materials were used to complete the works. Block U features James Hardy soffits and fascia and the new walkway is constructed from timber posts and rafters.
The school remained fully operational while the work was undertaken, so we had to plan and execute the works carefully to keep students and staff safe. Part of the Special Needs Unit and Māori Studies block contained asbestos, so we engaged specialist contractors to remove the material and undertook this work during the school holiday break.
A tree of significance was located in close proximity to the site however we were able to protect and retain this.
