Residential Fit Out

Residential Fit Out

February 2020

A project unlike any other. Maycroft welcomed the opportunity to be involved in the high-end residential fit out of this central Wellington Apartment.

The original dwelling faced a serve leaking problem, causing structural damage to the existing framing over many years.

This gave Maycroft the opportunity to provide construction services to create a weathertight building that suited the character of the street and bring more natural light into the living spaces.

The alterations involved carefully replacing the existing façade with structural steel framing, wind beams and the new curtain wall street frontage. An aluminium rainscreen façade system with a unique perforated screen panel was installed at the first floor. These screens are a striking feature, offering privacy from the street-front while letting natural textured light into the home. A new cantilever extension of the upper-level rear deck creates a useable outdoor space, perfect for more

A technical challenge of this project was the seamless alignment of the cladding system with the window heads/jambs and window transoms on both elevations.

The industrial aesthetic has been balanced with relaxing and social spaces. A hammock netting has been suspended at the mid floor area above the lobby space, and the design has thoughtfully incorporated mood lighting and floor to ceiling windows which look out over the street.

A 3mm powder coated aluminium front entrance gate has been laser cut to match the industrial aesthetic of the inner-city apartment.

The completed dwelling is a great representation of Maycroft’s high level of precision and meticulousness, resulting in a beautiful home that we know our clients will love for many years to come.
