The new Bunnythorpe Community Centre will provide a welcoming space for sports and social interaction for the local community of Bunnythorpe.
Maycroft is working with local subcontractors, a vital part of a community project, and Chapple Architecture to demolish the existing club room and community centre which is currently in poor repair with an unusable room upstairs due to substandard conditions and difficult access. A new Community Centre will be constructed in its place.
The construction of the 168m2 Community Centre will require structural steel to ensure the useability of the building for future generations. Internally the additions include a new kitchen, meeting room, bathroom, changing facilities and an eternal storeroom.read more
To complete the build, there will be an installation of hard features including a crossing, kerbs, asphalt parking and concrete areas as well as soft landscaping, grassed areas, soil and planting to provide an accessible and welcoming space. The exterior features of the building will include vertical corrugated metal cladding and coloursteel box spouting and down pipes.
Palmerston North City Council's ‘Connected Community Strategy’ was established to develop, provide and advocate for facilities that support connectivity and inclusivity and we are thrilled to provide the Bunnythopre Community with a local hub that fosters participation and opportunities that support individual development, health and wellbeing for the community.
