Works have commenced on the Kotuku Apartments upgrade at Kilbirnie, which, when complete, will house 150 residents in 33 x studio, 30 x one-bedroom, 5 x two-bedroom and 5 x four-bedroom units. The four buildings will be quake-strengthened and given a complete makover to bring the complex up to 21st Century standards.
The Kotuku Apartments upgrade is part of a $400 million Housing Upgrade Programme that is funded by the Wellington City Council and the Government. The project is expected to be completely refurbished and ready for reoccupation in early 2016.
