We are delighted to have completed Stage One of the Aged Care Facility for the Sisters of Compassion. The Home of Compassion in Heretaunga offers a range of services, including rest home, hospital and dementia care, as well as respite and day care.
This has been an interesting build for Maycroft and involved a fairly complicated transition/connection between the new and existing structure. Architecturally designed by Bell Kelly Beaumont Team Architects, the project consisted of 17 individual units and associated ensuites, each offering a spacious area for the individual user. The units are low maintenance with high stud walls, plenty of daylight and lovely bay window seating areas - perfect for the HOC Resident! In addition, the Residents have been spoilt with five delightful and secure courtyard areas, each containing artificial turf and selected planting - quite a magical setting.
Structurally, the project consisted of a reinforced concrete slab on grade with a separate non connected exterior foundation allowing for shrinkage of the floor slab. A mix of structural steel and timber wall framing, trusses and hyspan beams were used in the construction. Further, full and comprehensive seismic restrenghting of the existing chapel was carried out whilst remaining operational throughout.
Stage One has also had extensive services installed within the limited roof space together with full mechanical heating systems, seperately zoned Fire Services, Full Access Control Security Services, Hydraulic Services and meticulously designed Electrical, MATV and Data throughout the entire complex.
We are extremely proud of the final product which is now in full use and being enjoyed by the HOC Residents.
